Founded in 2000 by the Arcola United Methodist Church, in Dulles, Virginia, the Bricks of Hope™ mission was started with the goal of building “casitas,” or small homes, for Mexican workers that were migrating to Rio Bravo, an under-developed town in the Northeast region of Tamaulipas, Mexico. As the mission, and the town of Rio Bravo, grew, the focus of Bricks of Hope changed from building casitas to building schools for the town’s children—providing a sustainable way out of poverty cycle for Rio Bravo’s next generation.
To date, Bricks of Hope has constructed a public kindergarten and has partnered with a local Methodist church to sponsor a number of young women’s completion of high school. Construction of a co-ed high school and college is currently underway.
Next Mission: June 18-24, 2017
